Lab Personnel

Dr. Jordan Green (Curriculum Vitae) joined the UNL faculty in 2003. His research focuses on disorders of speech production, oromotor skill development for early speech and feeding, and quantification of speech motor performance. He teaches graduate courses on speech physiology and the neural basis of speech, language and hearing. He is an associate professor and holds the Corwin Moore Chair in Communication Disorders at UNL. Dr. Green earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Cynthia Didion is the project manager for the Speech Production Lab. With a B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Adult Education, Cynthia has career experience in clinical and medical laboratories, profit and non-profit organizations. Cynthia coordinates all lab activities from recruiting participants to analyzing the data collected.

Kimber Green, MA-CCC, is a Speech-Language Pathologist who has a Master's degree from California State University, Chico. She provides speech and language assessment services to participants in our studies and coordinates the phonetic transcription of infant vocalizations and child speech. She also works at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital with traumatic brain injury patients.

Cara Ullman has dual degrees in Speech Language Pathology and Instructional Design. As a Research Technology Specialist/Research Coordinator at UNL, she provides student and staff technology training related to the SPL studies, and performs field research, acoustic analysis, digitization of video productions, and data analysis. She has particular research interests in speech science and disordered motor speech.

Antje Mefferd, a doctoral candidate, completed part of her training as an SLP at the University Medical Center in Dresden, Germany. In May 2004, she obtained her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Antje is currently a doctoral student at UNL pursuing her interests in physiological and pathological speech movements.

Lindsey Fairchild is a UNL undergraduate student with a speech pathology major and a french minor, plans to graduate in December 2008. Lauren Head is beginning her first year of graduate school in speech-language pathology at UNL. She is a Graduate Assistant for Dr. Green, working on phonetic transcription in the lab. Jenna Mroczek is beginning her third year as a UNL undergraduate student majoring in Speech-Language Pathology. Jun Wang is a doctoral student in the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering, UNL. He obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science from
Beijing Institute of Technology, China. Jun is currently working on his
dissertation at SPL, co-advised by Dr. Jordan Green and Dr. Ashok
Samal (Computer Science Department). His research interests include
Speech-Language Pathology and Image Analysis.

Former Doctoral Students and Post-Doc Fellows

Ignatius Nip, Ph.D., graduated in 2007 studying under Dr. Jordan Green. His dissertation focused on the changes in orofacial behaviors in typically-developing infants from the ages of 9 to 21 months and the relations between speech motor performance, language, and cognition, language formulation, and speech motor performance, in normal and disordered speech development. Yana Yunusova currently is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She received an equivalent of master’s degree in linguistics from Syktyvkar State University (Russia, 1993). She received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology (2000) and PhD in speech science (2005) from the Department of Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. During her graduate studies, she was as a research assistant at the X-Ray Microbeam Laboratory studying articulatory kinematics, speech acoustics and intelligibility in speakers with dysarthria. She continued her research training as a post-doctoral fellow in the Speech Production Laboratory at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she used a 3-D electromagnetic articulography, Motion Capture system and aerodynamic techniques to study bulbar disease progression in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She is continuing this line of research at the University of Toronto, where she teaches motor speech disorders and alternative augmentative communication (ACC). Photo of Yana
Erin Wilson, Ph.D., graduated in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin studying under the direction of Dr. Jordan Green and Dr. Gary Weismer. Her research interest is speech science with an emphasis in early speech and feeding development. Erin's dissertation was on the development of chewing.
